The University of South Africa (UNISA) is inviting applications for Face-to-Face Tutor positions at various regional centres. This role involves facilitating learning through a hybrid model, which includes both face-to-face and online tutorials via MS Teams.

Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the tutor position is to facilitate learning at a UNISA Regional Centre through tutorials conducted on Saturdays and/or weekdays (evenings) in the identified subjects.
Available Regions
Tutors are needed in the following regions:
- KZN Region: Richards Bay, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Wild Coast, Newcastle
- Gauteng Region: Johannesburg, Vaal, Ekurhuleni, Pretoria, Florida
- Northern Region: Polokwane, Makhado, Nelspruit, Middelburg, Giyani
- Western Cape Region: Parow, George
- Eastern Cape Region: East London, Mthatha, Gqeberha
- Midlands Region: Bloemfontein, Kroonstad, Mahikeng, Rustenburg, Kimberley, Potchefstroom
General Requirements
- Attendance of training offered by UNISA at regional offices is compulsory.
- Candidates must not be UNISA Fixed Term contractors or Permanent staff members.
- A Master’s degree in the field of Accountancy or an MBA/MBL with an Honours degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy is required.
- CA(SA) qualification is preferred.
- Advanced communication skills and proficiency in English.
- Commitment to meeting deadlines and a passion for student-centred learning.
- Friendly and patient attitude with sensitivity to diverse student needs.
- Availability after hours during weekdays (16:00 to 20:00) and on Saturdays (08:00 to 13:00).
- Advanced proficiency in facilitating online classes on MS Teams.
Duties
Tutors will be responsible for:
- Effective facilitation of tutoring in a hybrid setting (MS Teams and/or in-person).
- Preparation for tutoring sessions through the hybrid model.
- Providing feedback to the teaching team (lecturers) as required.
Recommendations
- Teaching/tutoring experience in online settings will be advantageous.
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs.
- Own computer and reliable internet connection.
Employment Status
As an Independent Contractor:
- You will not be regarded as an employee of UNISA and will not be entitled to benefits such as medical aid or office space.
- You will work on an as-needed basis for a maximum of 15 hours per module per semester and 30 hours for year modules.
- You may be appointed for a maximum of 3 modules based on university needs.
- Appointments are for the 2025 calendar year.
Remuneration
The hourly rate for this position is R431.60.
