Johannesburg Water SOC Ltd is seeking to fill 2 Safety Practitioner vacancies to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and its associated regulations, particularly the Construction Regulations.

Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of the Safety Practitioner is to ensure that Johannesburg Water and its appointed contractors comply with health and safety regulations while managing safety practices effectively.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and audit the ISO 45001 system.
- Lead risk assessment processes at allocated operational sites.
- Identify necessary procedures and documents required by the system.
- Conduct incident investigations for all first aid, medical, and disabling injuries, including section 24 incidents.
- Compile investigation reports and submit them to the Safety Specialist and Occupational Health Nurse.
- Develop baseline risk assessments for CAPEX and Operations projects.
- Induct newly appointed contractors on Johannesburg Water’s OHS requirements.
- Evaluate and recommend approval/non-approval of safety files.
- Conduct monthly audits on all allocated projects and submit reports.
- Perform weekly inspections at all allocated sites.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Health (NQF Level 6).
- At least 4 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) within construction management and systems implementation.
- Registration with the SACPCMP as a Construction Health and Safety Manager.
- Valid Driver’s License (Code B).
