The Embassy of France is excited to invite students from South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi to apply for the prestigious France South Africa Scholarship for the 2025 academic year. This scholarship offers a unique opportunity for students to pursue Master’s or PhD studies in France, across any field of study.

Types of Scholarships Available
- Full Scholarship:
- Return flight to France
- Monthly allowance:
- 850 euros for Master’s students
- 1400 euros for PhD students
- Accommodation aid: 150 euros/month
- Social security, priority housing, visa fee exemption, and assistance from Campus France Paris.
- Cost-Sharing Scholarship:
- Monthly allowance (partially or fully funded by a partner)
- Benefits similar to those offered in the full scholarship.
Scholarship Duration
- Master’s Degree: 10 to 22 months
- PhD: Up to 3 years
- PhD (co-supervision): Duration depends on periods spent in France.
Selection Process
- Application deadline: 14 October 2024
- Shortlisting: November 2024
- Final selection: December 2024
- Selected students will begin an online French course and possibly an internship in South Africa from February to July 2025.
- Departure to France: Early September 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must be a citizen of South Africa, Lesotho, or Malawi.
- Must be born on or after 1 January 1995.
- Applying for a Master’s or PhD starting in September 2025.
- No prior acceptance into a French institution is required before applying.
