The FEM Bursary Programme is now open for applications, aimed at supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to pursue qualifications in the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
This initiative is designed to assist individuals who demonstrate strong academic performance but lack the financial means to fund their studies.

Bursary Criteria
To qualify for the FEM bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be enrolled in the Health Sciences or Engineering Faculty.
- Must be in good financial standing with their university (no outstanding fees from previous academic years).
- Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Combined household income must not exceed R380,000 per annum.
- Applicants should have a good academic record.
- Must have successfully completed their first year of study (no first-year or postgraduate students will be considered).
- Must have been accepted to study at an approved institution or a South African public university.
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- A valid South African ID.
- Most recent official academic record.
- Completed FEM bursary application form.
- Proof of income from parents/guardians (e.g., payslips).
- Documentation for any social grants received.
- An affidavit if any parent or guardian is unemployed or does not financially support the applicant.
- Death certificate of parent(s), if applicable.
- Divorce certificate of parent(s), if applicable.
FEM Bursary Benefits
The bursary covers:
- Full-time tuition fees.
- Prescribed textbooks.
- A monthly stipend.
- Accommodation and meals (approval is at the discretion of FEM).
