The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) is offering bursaries for the 2025 academic year to students pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Masters studies in fields related to Disaster Management, Fire Technology, or Fire Engineering. This bursary aims to support students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

Bursary Coverage
The bursary will cover:
- Registration fees
- Full tuition fees
- Resources allowance: Up to R11,000
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the bursary:
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Education: Must have completed Matric.
- Field of Study: Must be studying or intending to study towards an Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or Masters qualification in Disaster Management, Fire Technology, or Fire Engineering (Certificate courses and PhD qualifications are excluded).
- Institution: Must be studying, applied to study, accepted to study, or registered to study at a public institution of higher learning in South Africa.
Academic Requirements
- Undergraduate Applicants: Minimum overall average of 60% in Matric NSC.
- Postgraduate Applicants: Minimum overall average of 60% in your most recent academic results.
- Enrolled Applicants: Minimum overall average of 65% in your mid-year results.
Income Requirements
- Employed Applicants: Must have a total income of less than R350,000 per year.
- Unemployed Applicants: Must have a total household income of less than R350,000 per year.

- Submit Application: Complete the application online, ensuring all required information and documents are provided.
Supporting Documents
The following certified documents must be submitted with your application:
- ID document
- Matric certificate
- Proof of application/ acceptance/ registration at a public tertiary institution (on the institution’s letterhead)
- Most recent academic results (on the institution’s letterhead)
- Short Curriculum Vitae (max 2 pages)
- Parents or guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ proof of grant or pension if applicable)
- Your own proof of income, if employed (latest payslips)
- Postgraduate applicants: Latest academic results/transcripts and qualification (on institution’s letterhead)
- Masters applicants: Concept note of proposed Masters research on one of the 16 Priority Thematic Areas (1 to 2 pages)

- Bursary Contract: Successful recipients will be required to sign a bursary contract with DCoG through the NDMC.
