The WEINERT Foundation is excited to announce the availability of bursaries for the 2025 academic year. This opportunity is aimed at South African citizens pursuing qualifications in specific fields at selected universities.

Who Can Apply?
- Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens.
Fields of Study
Bursaries are available for students pursuing or intending to pursue qualifications in:
- Materials Science
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Physics (with a specialization in photonics preferred)
- Mechatronic Engineering
Eligible Institutions
Studies must take place at one of the following universities:
- Wits University (WITS)
- Stellenbosch University (SU)
- Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
Age Requirements
- Undergraduate Bursary: Must be under 21 years old in the year of application.
- Master’s Bursary: Must be under 26 years old in the year of application.
- PhD Bursary: Must be under 30 years old in the year of application.
Academic Qualifications
- Undergraduate:
- Minimum of 60% in Pure Mathematics.
- Preliminary Grade 12 results must have an average of 70% (excluding Life Orientation).
- Master’s:
- A Bachelor of Science Honours in a related field with a minimum weighted average of 65%.
- PhD:
- A Research Master’s degree in a related field.
