The South African National Parks (SANParks) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Field Guard Monitors within Technical Services. The successful individuals will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and supporting conservation efforts throughout the park.
Contract Length: Six Months Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Kruger National Park

Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 certificate.
- Firearm Competency:
- Firearm competency for Manual Loading/Bolt Action (Unit standards 117705, 119651, 123519).
- Valid Regulation 79 or 21 for bolt action/manual use.
- Criminal Record: No criminal record (SAPS Clearance certificate required).
- Experience: Must have completed a Basic Field Ranger course.
Knowledge and Fitness
- Health: Medical Certificate of Fitness is required.
- Knowledge:
- Understanding of Basic Health & Safety principles (minimum Level 1).
- Basic understanding of Field Ranger duties, with practical experience preferred.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and possess a strong passion for conservation and community interaction.
- Additional Skills: Ability to undertake extended patrols in challenging conditions.
Responsibilities
As a Field Guard Monitor, your responsibilities will include:
- Protecting contractors and maintenance teams while on duty.
- Enforcing laws and regulations through the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
- Keeping accurate records of incidents and sightings.
- Conducting routine patrols on foot or by vehicle.
- Assisting in conservation-related activities.
