The Constitutional Court of South Africa is inviting applications for Law Clerks for the year 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in constitutional law and legal research.

Purpose
Each Justice of the Constitutional Court is assisted by two Law Clerks whose primary function is to carry out legal research for their respective Justice. Appointments will be made for either:
- January 2026 to December 2026
- July 2026 to June 2027
Qualifications
- Applicants must possess:
- Matric plus an LLB degree or a four-year legal qualification (or an equivalent or post-graduate degree).
- Alternatively, applicants can be in their final year of study for such a degree.
- An interest in subjects relating to constitutional law is essential.
- Academic excellence and research experience are recommended.

Applications must be submitted as a single PDF bundle containing the following documents in the specified order:
- Completed NEW Z83 application form (downloadable from judiciary.org.za or dpsa.gov.za).
- Cover letter for job application (not exceeding 2 pages).
- A recent comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV), indicating the city you will be based in during 2025.
- Uncertified copies of all qualifications (including Matric certificate and academic transcripts).
- South African Identity Document (ID) copy.
- Letters of recommendation from two contactable referees (including their names, emails, and telephone numbers).
- An example of written work (6-12 pages) demonstrating critical legal analysis, authored solely by the applicant.

Salary
- The salary for these contract positions is R444,036.00 per annum plus 37% in lieu of benefits.
