The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is inviting young South Africans to apply for the Military Skills Development System (MSDS) 2026 intake.
This is a two-year contract offering military training, practical experience, and career development. Successful recruits will undergo basic military and functional training in Year 1, followed by deployment in Year 2.
Upon completing the 24-month programme, some recruits may be offered short-term contracts (10 years) in the full-time military force, while others may join the Reserve Force, where they can apply their military training in civilian careers.

Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the MSDS 2026 intake, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens (no dual citizenship).
- Be between 18 – 22 years (graduates up to 26 years).
- Have completed or be currently in Grade 12.
- Have no criminal record or pending cases.
- Have no visible tattoos.
- Meet SANDF medical fitness requirements.
Important: If you have not been contacted by 31 December 2025, consider your application unsuccessful.
