South African National Parks (SANParks) invites unemployed graduates to apply for internship opportunities in various fields.

This programme aims to equip young professionals with hands-on work experience in conservation, engineering, environmental management, finance, and communications.

Available Internship Positions

1. Communication, Journalism, or Public Relations

  • Location: Knysna Regional Office – Garden Route National Park
  • Qualification Required: National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Journalism, or Public Relations
  • Number of Positions: 1

4. Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Geography

5. Civil Engineering

  • Qualification Required: National Diploma in Civil Engineering

  • Additional Requirement: Must reside within the Western Cape Province

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SANParks Internship Programme, applicants must:

  • Be unemployed graduates aged 18 – 35.
  • Be South African citizens.
  • Have completed a Bachelor’s Degree/National Diploma (NQF 6/ NQF 7/ NQF 8) from a South African Public Higher Education Institution.
  • Have not previously been employed or participated in an internship/placement programme.
  • Reside in the province where the internship is located (for Tsitsikamma and Knysna).

Required Documents for Application

Applicants must submit the following:

  • A detailed CV
  • Certified copies of:
    • Matric/Grade 12 certificate
    • Academic qualifications with transcripts
    • South African ID
  • Motivation letter specifying the park, department, and field of study
  • Proof of residence for location-specific internships

Important Notes

  • Accommodation: Candidates must arrange their own accommodation and transportation unless otherwise specified.
  • Interviews: Shortlisted applicants must be available for interviews at a location determined by SANParks.
  • Application Process: Applications must be emailed to the correct email address as listed above. Manual applications will not be accepted.
  • Selection Process: All internships are subject to verification and pre-screening. If you do not receive feedback within 14 days of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
