The City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality is inviting applications for the Cadet Fire Fighter Skills Program. This program aims to train and develop individuals interested in pursuing a career in firefighting.

Requirements
To qualify for the Cadet Fire Fighter position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 qualification (Mathematics and Physical Science preferred).
- Age: 18 years or older.
- Physical Fitness: Must be medically and physically fit; candidates should not suffer from fear of confined spaces or heights.
- Teamwork: Ability to work in a team and cope with stressful situations.
- Criminal Record: No criminal record.
Compulsory Fitness Test
All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and pass the following compulsory fitness tests:
- Reach Test: Must reach a height of 1.9 m.
- 2.4 km Run:
- Males: Complete in 11 minutes.
- Females: Complete in 13 minutes.
- Push-ups: 30 in 60 seconds.
- Sit-ups: 30 in 60 seconds.
- Dead Load Carries: Carry two 25 kg drums over a distance of 100 m.
Additional Requirements
Candidates who pass the physical test will also need to:
- Pass a written assessment and an interview.
- Submit fingerprints and identity numbers for criminal record checks (no other clearances will be accepted).
- Undergo a City medical evaluation.
- Complete a compulsory drug test at a City testing center.
- Pass claustrophobia and acrophobia tests (fear of confined spaces and heights).
Special Conditions
- Candidates must reside within the City of Cape Town Municipal Area.
- There is no expectation of permanent employment upon completion of the program.
- Only unemployed applicants will be considered.
- Required to wear a uniform and protective clothing.
