Minimum Requirements:
To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy).
- Residency: Must reside in Pinetown or surrounding areas.
- Employment Status: Must be currently unemployed.
You must have passed the following subjects at NQF Level 4:
- Mathematics / Technical Mathematics (Not Mathematics Literacy).
- Physical Science / Technical Science.
- N3 Diesel Trade Theory and/or N3 Mechanotechnology.
- Engineering Graphics and Design.
Job Specification:
During the 4-year apprenticeship, you will:
- Learn and observe: Gain technical skills under experienced staff guidance.
- Demonstrate skills: Apply your knowledge independently or as part of a team.
- Complete apprentice modules: Complete merSETA modules blending theory and practical skills.
- Health and safety: Ensure safe working conditions are maintained.
- Workshop maintenance: Learn to maintain and repair workshop equipment.
- Logbook maintenance: Record the projects you’ve worked on and acquired skills.
- Workplace housekeeping: Keep the workspace tidy and organized.
- Professional conduct: Maintain a smart appearance and professional demeanor.
- Additional duties: Carry out tasks as assigned that are suitable for your role.
