Registrar (Medical) (Radiology) (5-Year Contract) (4 Posts)

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Current certificate of ATLS/ACLS. Completion of Part 1 FCA Rad (Diag) SA. Emergency and after hour call cover. Commuted overtime is compulsory. Each Registrar will be working from Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital and Groote Schuur Hospital but will be required to work across the platform. Registrars will be required to register as post-graduate students with the University of Cape Town.
  • Knowledge and practical skills for safe general diagnostics radiology.
  • Knowledge & appropriate use of equipment.
  • Research methodologies.
  • Diagnostic Radiology experience.
  • Any additional experience in other fields of diagnostic imaging.
  • in Internal Medicine or critical care under supervision of a Specialist.
  • Appropriate and sufficient clinical experience since obtaining the degree of MBChB.
  • Diploma certificates e.g.
  • Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) or DiP PEC.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of safe imaging services.
  • Learn the art and science of diagnostic radiology and imaging.
  • Earn clinical skills required by diagnostic imaging.
  • Participate in academic activities and teaching responsibilities of the division.
  • Assist with training of interns, medical students and nursing staff.
  • Undertake a suitable research project for completion of an MMed degree.
  • Supervision in diagnostic imaging.
  • Performance appraisals/assessments.
  • Safety of personnel and patients.
  • Input at meetings.
  • Involvement in research/ audits relating to diagnostic radiology and imaging.
