Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to assist in the mine rehabilitation programme, involving monitoring site activities, ensuring compliance with timelines and standards, conducting site investigations, and supporting project execution.
Responsibilities
- On-Site Project Monitoring:
- Act as the Employer’s Agent’s Assistant (Assistant Resident Engineer) for mine rehabilitation projects.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure rehabilitation activities align with project specifications and timelines.
- Technical Investigations and Design:
- Conduct site investigations to gather data for rehabilitation designs.
- Collaborate with the project team to produce accurate technical designs and reports.
- Contract and Project Management Assistance:
- Support project management by tracking progress and maintaining detailed records.
- Work closely with contractors and stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Assist in preparing detailed progress reports on site activities, challenges, and achievements.
- Document observations and technical findings for reference and audit purposes.
- Capacity Building and Skill Development:
- Leverage on-site learning opportunities to build expertise in mine rehabilitation and environmental safety.
- Collaborate with team members to develop innovative approaches for efficient project execution.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF level 7) in Civil Engineering.
- Excellent academic record with a minimum average of 60%.
